Programming Module For S7 Airlines’S Mobile App
The newly-developed software module by First Line Software collects technical data from SITA, saves it to a database, analyzes and converts information into a user-friendly format.
Client
S7 Airlines, a member of the global aviation alliance oneworld.
Project
S7 Airlines made a decision to expand the functionality of the mobile app used by their passengers – with the addition of a personal luggage tracking service that would provide a higher level of service and exceed passenger expectations. The development and implementation was performed by First Line Software. The development of this functionality was based on BagJourney, a leading technology that is being used to help the airline industry meet the requirements of IATA Resolution 753 and more. The project included big data analysis which required a thorough understanding of airport business processes.
“Being advanced means being digital—that's how leading companies all over the world think. We are pleased to apply the experience and knowledge we’ve accumulated during the process of creating many digital solutions for customers from Europe and the US, on a project for a particularly tech-savvy airline in Russia”, said Vladimir Litoshenko, VP Business Development, First Line Software.
Solution
The luggage tracking service is based on the SITA BagJourney system, which operates by transmitting messages to SITA while moving luggage from one checkpoint to another in preparation for departure: at check-in, when loading on the aircraft, upon arrival at transfer points and at the destination airport. The efficiency of BagJourney is based on analysis of a substantial amount of data collected from 400 airports and 500 airlines.

With the enhanced mobile application, S7 Airlines passengers will know when their suitcase has been inspected and loaded on board. This is especially important for passengers who have connecting flights and check their luggage at the departure airport directly to their final destination.
