First Line Software Endorses Personal Health Train (PHT) Manifesto, Joins PHT Consortium
The Personal Health Train (PHT) initiative is designed to promote the increased usage of existing biomedical data to conduct research associated with personalized health and medicine, preventive medicine, and value-based healthcare. It is built on the theme of a railway with a complex system of checks and balances that ensure maximum privacy protection and maximum engagement of individual patients and citizens.
Bringing research to data versus bringing data to research is a key concept associated with PHT, which is designed to provide controlled access to heterogeneous data sources, with specific mandates. The non-negotiable prerequisite is that health data be made FAIR – Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. The FAIR data principles were developed by a broad community of global stakeholders to facilitate data stewardship and promote open science.
With First Line Software’s substantial expertise in healthcare IT, making the decision to sign on to the Personal Health Train Manifesto was the clear choice. “We believe this initiative represents the potential to transform how healthcare-related research is conducted and expand discoveries that can improve the quality of life for so many people, stated First Line CEO and President, Nick Puntikov. “To be part of actualizing an initiative that can tap into so many sources of healthcare data for significant research purposes while maintaining the privacy protection of data sources is a fantastic opportunity to utilize our expertise.”
