Full House at First Digital Society Health & Well-being Conference
The first Digital Society Health & Well-being conference was held at Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden, Netherlands on September 26, 2019. “Mind Your Data: Privacy and Legal Matters in e-Health” was the theme for the event, which was hosted by the Digital Society, a research program initiated by the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU).
The 14 universities that participate in the VSNU are collaborating on several initiatives connected to the digital future of the Netherlands, including Health & Well-being. When it comes to the successful development and implementation of integrated and personalized digital healthcare solutions, privacy and legal issues must be addressed.
These important considerations are what led to the creation of this first-ever Digital Society conference. Researchers, healthcare professionals and e-health developers were invited to join the discussion on how to handle privacy and legal issues in e-health from a practical, ethical, technical and philosophical point of view.
Expert Presenters, Panel Discussions and Networking
Event presenters included privacy and IT lawyer, Marie-José Bonthuis, and Professor Edward Watkins, professor of experimental and applied clinical psychology at the University of Exeter, among others. Scientists and tech company representatives showcased their digital health solutions and explained how they are addressing privacy and legal issues. There was also time allocated for networking when attendees made new business contacts and explored partnership opportunities.
Members of the First Line Software team attended the half-day event to participate in the discussions which will no doubt influence the development of future health tech solutions. “At First Line, ensuring that privacy and legal issues are addressed is a top priority as we develop innovative digital health solutions for our clients,” stated First Line’s Vladimir Litoshenko. “Attending events like this one are key to staying up-to-date with these important issues.”
