A system for collecting and evaluating ideas from employees
The key objective of the project was to create an easy-to-use solution that would motivate employees to actively participate in the company’s success. Employees would use an intranet portal to submit their ideas for optimization of the business and those who propose the best suggestions would be rewarded in the form of cash bonuses.
Company
A large Russian-based global energy company is engaged in the exploration, production, transportation, storage, processing and sale of gas, gas products and oil, as well as the production and sales of heat and electric power. This company already owns the world’s largest gas transmission network and recently announced a partnership to build what will be one of the world’s largest gas processing plants.
Product
The key objective of the project was to create an easy-to-use solution that would motivate employees to actively participate in the company’s success. Employees would use an intranet portal to submit their ideas for optimization of the business and those who propose the best suggestions would be rewarded in the form of cash bonuses. This portal would also serve as a tool company management could use to evaluate and select the best ideas for implementation. The project slogan is "Innovation = ideas + motivation!”
Project Description
First Line Software won the bid for development of this new system and planned for it to be based on the business communications platform 1C Bitrix. The intranet portal would be used to collect the ideas from employees and send them to a community of experts for evaluation. The project also included requirements to create the ability to publish winning ideas to all employees.
Progress of the project
The client defined clear technical specifications which were subsequently amended. Modifications of the planned system were implemented according to the feedback from both management and employees. For example, a ‘planned/realized’ function was added to the system which allows experts, who evaluated the concepts, to be made aware of new ideas that were relevant to their specific areas of responsibility. Pass-through authentication was also configured.
Results
First Line Software implemented a solution that made it possible for the customer to implement an employee loyalty program, introduce tools for the collection of ideas, and ultimately optimize a number of business processes based on employee recommendations. First Line Software is providing ongoing development, service and maintenance of the intranet portal.
