Client
This Russian telecommunications operator provides services in local telephony, long-haul telephone communication, broadband Internet (they are number one in Russia for subscriber volume), interactive TV, cell communication, and other related services. According to the company, over 100 million Russians use their services.
Task
The client required a web application that would visualize the exact position of an operator’s network on a map. What made this software application development project more challenging is the complexity of the network structure. It was initially established with its own existing networks and then expanded through the acquisition of local operator networks. This significantly increased the complexity of evaluating the engineering capability for connecting new subscribers. The web app had to be designed to display the geography of the operator’s networks so the client’s sales teams- – especially the teams working with legal entities — could quickly assess the opportunity for providing services at new locations.
Solution
The initial project focused on the software development of a system prototype. A test geolocation web application was created by our web app developers team using the Yandex Maps service as the base. The app takes into account a routine scenario – one of their sales managers needs to see an operator’s network availability at a certain address in order to perform an immediate assessment of a new subscription prospect. Specific layers of the map must visualize the client’s existing resources, information about subscribers, and the operator’s offices and divisions. The potential for integrating the web app into several of the client’s technical and information systems also exists.
Result
Once the system is implemented and fully operational, sales division executives expect there will be a significant increase in the efficiency of their sales managers. The sales team will have full visibility into which territories have the greatest potential and can focus their efforts there.
