First Line Software Included in 36th Software 500 Worldwide Ranking
The companies represented in today’s Software 500 – as First Line – are driving the changes that are leading the way to the next industrial revolution. There are many trends to observe within the software industry – from cloud adoption to machine learning, the IoT, and blockchain technology.
The data for this year’s Software 500 compared revenue data from the 2017 fiscal year to 2016 revenue data from both public and private software and services companies. For the 2018 report, total software and services revenue equaled $867.8 billion compared to $813.6 billion in the 2017 report, indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.8%.
Public companies dominate the 2018 Software 500 with 469 companies compared to 31 private companies. What’s notable is the fact that the number of private companies has dropped from last year when 47 companies were represented in the 2017 Software 500, including First line Software.
