Attendees Learn How to Use Digital Economy to Achieve a Competitive Edge

ICT R&D Professionals

On September 19 and 20, Finland hosted one of the largest ICT events in Europe – the ICT Proposer’s Day 2019 at the Messukeskus Expo and Convention Centre in Helsinki. Digital Excellence Forum @ ICT Proposers’ Day 2019 was one of the most important events to be organized by Finland during its Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The conference was attended by over 3,000 decision-makers, industry leaders, and ICT R&D professionals who were all anxious to learn more about the Digital Europe Programme and the upcoming Horizon 2020 calls in Information and Communication Technologies, Future and Emerging Technologies and Societal Challenges areas. Many attendees were particularly interested in learning more about the nearly EUR 13 billion of funding for R&D that will be granted in 2020.

The event theme was Future Competitive Edge Comes from Digital Economies and started with a plenary debate on “Partnering for Digital Excellence”. The day continued with a track of open dialogue sessions about the upcoming Digital Europe Programme with its main objective of boosting Europe’s sustainable digital transformation for the benefit of citizens and businesses.

First Line Software representatives attended the sessions and participated in the many networking opportunities that resulted in insightful, informal discussions.

“Our company looks forward to participating in EU projects and joining consortiums to apply our technical expertise with Big Data, AI, IoT and Digital Transformation,” commented First Line’s expert. “We also have significant expertise in Healthcare IT and would welcome any opportunities to join EU Consortiums focused on using technology to solve e-Health challenges.”

The ICT Proposers’ Day 2019 also featured a track of sessions focused on ICT topics and proposal writing. This track included presentations from the European Commission, along with Q&A and proposer pitch sessions.

Finally, attendees were invited to visit the Finnish Village which features some of the best digital innovations and try out big simulators, VR/AR-based remote maintenance & control solutions and nanosatellites that demonstrate how digitalization adds value and creates a competitive edge.

We wish all companies applying for the 2020 R&D funding all the best in their endeavours. Contact First Line Software to explore how we can partner and apply our technical expertise to help develop your company’s technical innovations.
