Kentico Optimization Boosts Engagement for Local Dental Clinic

Kentico Optimization

Client

A local dental clinic.

Challenge

Our client, a dental clinic, approached us with a critical performance issue on their Kentico website. The pages were loading extremely slowly, taking up to a minute to load, which significantly affected user experience and led to a drop in potential patient engagements. This was a major concern for the clinic as a responsive and efficient website is crucial for their patient outreach and service efficiency.

Prior to contacting us, the clinic enlisted the help of three different teams to diagnose and rectify the problem, but none succeeded in identifying the root cause of the slowdown. The client was facing the prospect of a complete website overhaul, which would be both time-consuming and costly.

Solution

Our team undertook a comprehensive analysis of the Kentico site, focusing on the server configurations, database performance, and any external dependencies that might be impacting the site’s speed. Through meticulous inspection and performance profiling, we pinpointed the issue as a misconfiguration involving a third-party API integration.

The API in question was experiencing timeouts propagated across multiple pages on the site due to its widespread use. This bottleneck was causing the entire website to suffer from extended load times.

To resolve this, we reconfigured the API settings to ensure optimal performance and reliability. We also implemented better error handling and fallback mechanisms to prevent a single point of failure from crippling the entire site. Additionally, we optimized the API calls to minimize latency and reduce the load on the server.

Result

The adjustments led to a dramatic improvement in the website’s performance. Page load times were reduced from up to a minute to just a few seconds, greatly enhancing the user experience and operational efficiency. The dental clinic observed an immediate increase in user engagement and a reduction in bounce rates.

Our intervention not only salvaged the existing Kentico site, sparing the client from a costly rebuild but also reinstated confidence in their digital platform’s reliability. The client’s team was trained on best practices for maintaining and monitoring the performance of their site to prevent similar issues in the future.
